Abstract

Penggunaan papan partikel atau papan komposit dalam aplikasi kebutuhan sehari-hari semakin meningkat, akan tetapi industri produsen papan partikel sering mengolah kayu utuh untuk dijadikan serbuk atau partikel kayu, dengan kondisi dimana limbah kayu di usaha meubel sering kali terbuang. Dengan perkembangan teknologi yang ada maka akan dilakuakan penelitian untuk mengetahui sifat fisik dan sifat mekanik papan partikel dari serbuk gergajian kayu pinus merkusii dan sabut kelapa, guna meningkatkan pedapatan pelaku usaha micro dan mengurangi limbah yang dihasilkan dengan pengolahan limbah kembali dan dijadikan produk papan partikel. Dalam proses pembuatan papan partikel menggunakan metode penelitian experimental menggunakan formulasi kayu pinus merkusii 100%, kayu pinus 50% : sabut kelapa 50%, dan sabut kelapa 100% dan penggunaan perekat resin polyester 15%, dan lem putih 10% + resin 5% dengan parameter uji kerapatan, pengembangan tebal, kadar air, dan ketuguhan tarik tegak lurus sesusai dengan batasan SNI 03-2105-2006. Hasil pengujian kerapatan berkisar antara 0,30-0,91 g/cm3, pengembangan tebal berkisar antara 0,63 – 46,90 %, kadar air berkisar antara 5,67 - 15,96 %, kerapatan berkisar antara 0,39-0,47 g/cm3 , pengembangan tebal berkisar antara 2,21 – 7,04 %, keteguhan tarik tegak lurus 1.014 – 10.206 kgf/cm². Yang kemudian dihitung HPP untuk menentukan nilai jual produk untuk ke 6 sampel tersebut.
