Abstract

UISI merupakan salah satu perguruan tinggi yang berada di Kabupaten Gresik. Dengan adanya UISI maka tidak sedikit mahasiswa yang berasal dari kota/ kabupaten lain datang ke Gresik untuk berkuliah. Hal ini mengakibatkan bisnis rumah kos menjadi salah satu usaha yang menjanjikan. Dalam pemilihan rumah kos tidak hanya berdasarkan satu atau dua variabel saja, namun variabel yang kompleks menjadi pertimbangan para calon penyewa rumah kos dalam menentukan pilihannya. Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan metode Structural Equation Model (SEM) untuk mengolah variabel yang kompleks tersebut. SEM merupakan metode analisis multivariat, selain itu SEM mampu menguji kelayakan suatu model penelitian. Pada penelitian ini akan dilakukan pengujian kelayakan model AHP pada penelitian mengenai preferensi mahasiswa UISI dalam memilih rumah kos yang telah dilakukan sebelumnya. Hasil uji kelayakan model AHP pada penelitian terdahulu dengan menggunakan metode SEM menunjukkan bahwa model penelitian yang digunakan bukan merupakan model fit, sehingga kurang sesuai untuk digunakan pada penelitian tersebut. Penelitian juga akan membandingkan hasil pengolahan data dengan metode AHP dan SEM. Hasil pengolahan data menggunakan metode SEM menunjukkan kesesuaian hasil dengan AHP pada tingkat pertama, namun untuk tingkat kedua dan seterusnya menunjukkan hasil yang tidak sesuai. Kata Kunci : Rumah kos, multivariat, Structural Equation Model.
