Abstract

Perbaikan strategi guna meningkatkan efisiensi dan efektivitas dalam bersaing dengan perusahaan sejenisnya merupakan impian dari semua perusahaan yang memiliki sistem penyimpanan dalam beroperasi. PT. Midi Utama Indonesia Tbk merupakan perusahaan ritel yang memilki Distribution Center sebagai menstabilkan antara supply dan demand. Saat ini, penyimpanan produk departemen chiller pada Distribution Center Fresh belum memperhatikan adanya frekuensi perpindahan produk pada proses penyimpanan produk di gudang. Sehingga akan mengakibatkan adanya pemborosan jarak material handling yang dilakukan oleh karyawan gudang. Pada penelitian ini mengusulkan perbaikan tata letak penyimpanan produk pada Distribution Center Fresh PT. Midi Utama Indonesia Tbk Cabang Pasuruan dengan metode Class Based Storage. Pada metode ini, penempatan produk dibagi menjadi tiga kelas, yaitu kelas A, B dan C. Kelas A berada di wilayah dekat pintu I/O dan ditempati produk yang memiliki nilai throughput tinggi, kemudian kelas B ditempati oleh produk yang memiliki nilai throughput sedang, dan kelas C ditempati oleh produk dengan nilai throughput rendah. Hasil dari analisis layout usulan A,B dan C pada penelitian ini yaitu didapatkan layout B terpilih sebagai layout yang memiliki nilai total jarak material handling terkecil sebesar 6.993.531 m per bulan dan memiliki persentase penurunan terbesar sebesar 13,3% dari layout eksisiting.
